I am Mariana Picasso, a French-American contemporary artist with deep Mexican-Tex Mex roots, based in Épernay, France. My paintings are driven by an obsession with heavy textures, impasto, and colors—I like to think of them as a 3D story on canvas. One of my favorite parts of being an artist is watching people trigger an instinctive urge to touch my work, beautifully uniting sight, emotion, and physical contact through the skin. They just can't help themselves, and I love that.
Entirely self-taught, my artistic journey began 15 years ago in London. Since then, I have been successfully doing private commissions and sales, and this past March, I decided it was finally time to step out and officially launch my social media platforms. For me, the canvas is a sanctuary for emotional catharsis, where I intuitively turn my most joyful moments and painful experiences into vibrant, real stories. Being a deeply empathetic person, I naturally gravitate toward deep conversations. I love speaking face-to-face, reading the room, and sharing the raw emotions and stories that led me to create a piece or a collection. Ultimately, my goal is to share a positive message with the world. I want to inspire people to believe in themselves and remind them that every heavy chapter in life can turn into something special. My art is an expression of exactly that.
My signature style lies in the alchemy of my own mixed-media formulas—combining custom gels, pastes, and heavy impasto to shatter the traditional flatness of the canvas. Even my most simple fluid art pieces always feature volume; I can't help myself. For instance, a current piece I’m working on combines a universe-inspired pouring style with a mini 3D astronaut made of heavy impasto. Lately, my "dropping 3D" paintings have also been gaining wonderful recognition, and I completely lose myself in the process of creating them.
